It's not a "bad" structure becuase it is the structure that allwos the in depth tacticla combat that the series is known for. In other words, allowing diplomatic offers to be sent, allowing research to be queued, changing city production etc. Now I hear the devs are looking into things to do during a combat, for example, any action that doesn't affect the map state, so anything not involving creating or moving units I believe. So the choice boils down to EL combat or AoW combat + wait. Therefore when a combat is in progress, all other actions stop, because it is a queue.Īnd there is no way to resolve that, whilststill maintaining a seperate combat layer.Įndless legends' combat occurs on the same layer, not a distinct one like in AoW3, which is why they managed to make it simultaneous.
